Doorstep crime - how you can help

You can help us to stop people you know getting conned by bogus builders or rogue traders calling door to door.

Anyone can get caught - these criminals are very good liars, but they mostly target older or vulnerable people.  People who have been tricked like this are often too embarrassed or upset to tell even their family or friends.

We would like young people to know what these people do and how they operate, so that you can warn and protect members of your family or neighbours who may be older or vulnerable to this sort of crime.

The links below will open pdf documents which you can download.

Poster competition results

There was a huge response to our latest competition for Year 5 & 6 students in Kent Primary Schools and students aged 11 and over in Kent Special Schools.

Students were asked to design a poster or leaflet to warn vulnerable or older people about the dangers of doorstep criminals.

We received almost 800 entries from 34 education establishments across Kent including primary schools, Special Schools and Pupil Referral Units as well as entries via Family Liaison officers.

The top 5 winning designs were presented with prizes and certificates at a photocall in Maidstone Library. Another 5 young designers were awarded "Highly Commended" certificates.  All entrants receive a certificate of achievement.

The standard was extremely high so choosing a winner was difficult. The winning entry (see image above) is copied and sent to local dentists, doctors, chemists, newsagents and community halls etc. to display on their premises.
