The Trading Standards Service can provide free impartial advice to all businesses based in Luton.  We enforce and advise on a wide range of legislation designed to protect consumers.  We do this in a number of ways including carrying out inspection visits to traders, investigating complaints where there might be a criminal breach and sampling and analysing consumer products.

If you are thinking of starting a new business or are already running an existing one and you require advice or information on the legal requirements of trading standards legislation please free to contact us.  We also have guidance notes and leaflets on various subjects on the website which you can download.

Please take a look at ERWIN (Everything Regulation, Whenever It's Needed).  This is a free national one-stop website for all Trading Standards related information for retailers.  Guidance on all aspects of Trading Standards issues can be found here and there are links to a number of relevant sources on the web. The site provides information on all major Trading Standards legislation and you can receive tailored advice for your particular business type.
