Notice to all exhibitors of cattle both for showing and trade stands
(for England and Wales)
Enter your postcode in the field at the bottom of this page to see if your local authority trading standards service has the full leaflet version available on its website.
All cattle born after 1 July 1996 are required to have a passport. Those born before that date are required to have a certificate of registration (movement document – special licences are now required to move such cattle).
The passport or movement document must accompany the animal to the show. The movement to the show must be recorded.
The movement details are to be recorded in your herd book within 36 hours of the movement taking place, and movement cards (in passports or attached to certificates of registration) are to be completed and sent to BCMS within three days of the movement taking place (or use one of CTS’s alternative methods). Note: some show organisers will carry out the 'on' and 'off' movement notification electronically.
