A variety of legislation sets out requirements for any person who keeps 50 or more poultry at any one premises to notify the Great Britain Poultry Register and to keep a record relating to their poultry. Additional requirements are placed on certain premises to be register in greater detail with Scottish Ministers.
Records required to be kept include the movement of poultry and eggs on and off premises, the transport and marketing of poultry, any medicinal treatment administered and mortalities, measures put in place to control hazards, and the results of testing for salmonella.
