The EC Feed Hygiene Regulation 183/2005 and The Feed (Hygiene and Enforcement) (Scotland) Regulations 2006 as amended, apply to feed hygiene. These Regulations contain controls in relation to feed businesses’ operational standards and provisions to help ensure that feeds can be traced and recalled in the event of a feed safety incident.

These replace the previous arrangements under Directive 95/69 (implemented by The Feeding Stuffs (Establishments and Intermediaries) Regulations 1999) which required those involved in the manufacture, use or marketing of certain additives to be registered or approved.

These Regulations apply to feed businesses (with few exceptions).
