There is now a pre-movement testing regime for TB under the Tuberculosis (Scotland) Order 2007, which means that all cattle on farms that are required by the Scottish Government Rural Directorate (formerly SEERAD) to be subject to routine testing for TB on an annual or biennial basis, will be subject to pre-movement testing. All cattle to be moved from the premises they are on will be required to have been tested negative for TB in the previous 60 days, prior to the movement. There are some exemptions to this including calves under six weeks old, cattle going direct to slaughter, and cattle being moved to a show providing it is coming straight back. The keeper of the animals must keep the results of the test for a specified time, and they may be required for inspection.
