It is a criminal offence to sell an aerosol paint container to anyone under the age of 16, and the owner of the business, as well as the actual seller, may be liable to a penalty of up to £1,000. However, there are a number of robust measures you can put in place to avoid selling to under 16s - these include being sure you understand the various age restrictions for different products and displaying posters explaining the need for ID and the relevant age restriction.
