This gives examples of what to do in cases where you may have purchased goods that may be faulty or goods that you don’t like and want to change.

It gives a number of examples that might apply when you take goods back to a retailer in the above circumstances and arms you with the answers that you might need to counteract the stated position of the seller. You must appreciate that you do not have any statutory rights to exchange goods or get your money back if you merely change your mind, and an example of this is given.

Even if you don’t have any statutory rights in the aforementioned situation, if you act reasonably when you return to the retailer many will exchange goods, give you a credit note and may, in some cases, give you your money back. An example is also given about your rights when you purchase goods from a doorstep seller and change you mind. In this case your rights may be different.

As from the 1 October 2008 new legislation came into force which enhances your cancellation rights when you receive a visit to your home, your workplace or the home of another individual, regardless if the visit was requested or not. This includes details of what to do if this happens to you.
