Distance Selling Regulations and the Cancellation of Contracts made in a Consumer’s Home or Place of Work etc. Regulations

The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 and the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 give you protection when ‘shopping from a distance’, eg over the phone/internet, etc. You must receive clear information about the trader, the goods, the delivery and the price, etc. You also have the right to cancel within seven days. The Regulations make it a criminal offence to demand payment or threaten legal action to obtain payment for unsolicited goods or services.
