Buying communication and media packages from retailers
(for all nations)
Enter your postcode in the field at the bottom of this page to see if your local authority trading standards department has the full leaflet version available on its website.
Retailers offer package deals for telephone, broadband, television and mobile services. The market is so competitive that you may be faced with many different choices. Consideration must be given on total cost per month, best value for money for the services required, and whether you are able to receive the correct signal/reception in your area.
You need to ensure that you are fully aware of the services on offer, before taking out a contract. You also need to be aware of who is at fault if you do not get the services required after accepting the contract, and how to resolve any problems.
You may have the right to cancel the contract within seven days, under either the Distance Selling Regulations (when bought without face-to-face contract with the retailer) or Cancellation of Contracts Made in a Consumer's Home or Place of Work etc Regulations (if bought at home).
