Our Advice Policy - our promise to you 


  We will provide initial advice to consumers and traders to inform you of your rights and obligations under civil and criminal law enforced by this Service in relation to trading transactions, to assist you to resolve any dispute yourself. We will intervene directly in civil disputes only in exceptional circumstances, where the person seeking assistance is considered to have special needs. We will maintain an independent impartial stance and will not act on behalf of any party. We will make every effort to refer you to the appropriate source of further assistance if the matter on which advice is sought falls outside the scope of this Service. We will make every effort to respond to your enquiry as soon as we can and will do so no longer then 5 working days from receipt. We are unable to deal with the following types of claim and would advise that you seek help from a legal specialist e.g. a solicitor -

personal injury claims
claims which involve very large sums of money
specialist areas of law, e.g. employment law, property law, etc.

Normally, we can only assist traders and residents from Devon. However, we welcome comments and feedback from anyone, wherever you are.
