Intermediate award
This course is designed for all staff including those in:
- supervisory and management roles
- customer service departments
- the shop floor
- contact centres
- customer relationship roles
- regulatory compliance departments.
- the trading standards officer's role
- the national home authority principle and the primary authority impact
- what to expect from a trading standards visit
- consumer protection laws, including the Sale of Goods Act 1979, the Sale of Goods and Services Act 1982 and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008
- criminal law and legal defences
- age-restricted products
- civil contract law and implied terms
- product safety.
Alternatively, you can mix and match any of the following half-day modules. You will need to take two of the half-day modules to complete the intermediate award:
- compliance foundations for all business
- age-restricted sales
- primary authority
- consumer protection regulations.
The one-day course and half-day modules include an exam at the end of the session. Upon successful completion of the intermediate level, you may then take the advanced course.
