  Animal Health & Welfare
Enforces legislation designed to protect livestock and farm animals. Duties are carried out through attendance at all the county's livestock markets and other random checks at a variety of locations. Contact: Nigel Durnford
 
  Consumer Advice & Community Development
Provides impartial civil advice and information and acts as a screening point on behalf of the other sections for matters revealing breaches of the criminal law. Also leads on our consumer education work, highlights consumer issues via the media and promotes our work through talks and displays. Contact: Martin Bruton
 
  Fair Trading
Deals with falsely described goods, services and property, breaches of consumer credit laws and problem traders. Also picks up on our more in-depth investigations. A specialist unit is dedicated to tackling the problem of overloaded goods vehicles on the county's roads. Contact: Karen Smith

 

 
  Food and Agriculture
Responsible for maintaining standards of quality and quantity of food and agricultural products offered for sale at retail and wholesale level, as well as our weights and measures work. Contact:

  Product Safety
Aims to ensure that goods sold to consumers are safe. Also takes responsibility for age restricted sales, safety of petroleum sites, including petrol filling stations, safe storage of explosives, including fireworks.
