| Doorstep Selling Enterprise Act Underage Sales |
Enterprise Act UndertakingsUnder Part 8 of the Enterprise Act 2002, Trading Standards authorities, the Office of Fair Trading and other bodies responsible for consumer law enforcement, have stronger powers to seek court orders against businesses who breach certain consumer protection laws.
If a trader fails to comply with a court order he will be in contempt of court and may be liable to imprisonment.
Before taking court action the traders concerned will always be invited to respond to the allegations against them, and they will be able to give binding commitments (undertakings) instead of going to court.
