KCC Act registration - Dealers in second-hand goods

Do you need to Register?

If you deal in second hand goods in Kent you will need to register unless you fall into one of the exempt categories. We have prepared a detailed guidance note which should answer any questions you may have.

The legislation also affects occasional sales (which includes events such as boot fairs, markets and one day sales).

How to register

There are three ways to register:-

  • complete and submit the "New Applications" On-line Registration registration form
  • telephone the Registration & Information Centre on 01622 221012 (weekdays 9.00am -5.00pm)
  • Download and print out the application form (pdf) complete it and return it to the address shown on the form.

Your certificate of registration will be sent to you within 7 days of receipt of your application. You must not carry out any activities that require registration before you receive your certificate of registration.

We have prepared Guidance to help you complete the registration.
