This fun, challenging, interactive competition is an annual event open to schools and youth clubs, scouts and guide groups. It’s a national competition organised and run locally by KCC Trading Standards, and supported by local businesses. Around 10,000 young people are involved each year.
Knock-out heats are held during December to find Kent’s top 6 teams who face a show-down final at County Hall, Maidstone in January. The teams are put through their paces with questions on consumer affairs, safety and health, food and drink, money, credit and finance, social responsibility and the environment, Europe and travel.
There are trophies, certificates and lots of excellent prizes for the winning team who go on to take part in the national final at the annual Trading Standards Insitute Conference. This enjoyable competition will also help you know and understand your consumer rights and responsibilities, knowledge you can share with friends and family. The challenge is now on to find Kent’s Young Consumer champions for next year.
