The Commitment to Fair Trading Scheme is a partnership between the Motor Trade and North East Lincolnshire Council Environmental Services Directorate Trading Standards Service. It is a way for businesses in the motor trade to show that
they are committed to being fair, safe and honest in their
dealings with customers. It is a way for Trading Standards to continue their efforts to promote a fair trading environment within the motor trade to the benefit of both consumers and local business. To find out who are the members click on the link below but also look out for the distinctive logo that traders can display at their business premises and in advertising. Q. How many member are currently in the CFT? A. There are currently thirty nine (39) members. Home Service Directory
Q. What is the Home Service Directory about? A. It is a Trading Standards scheme to provide consumers with the means of finding a local trades person they can trust and to help promote reputable traders in North East Lincolnshire. Any local trades person can apply to join the Home Services Directory. To become a member you will be vetted by Trading Standards and sign up to the terms and conditions of the scheme. Trading Standards will promote the Home Services Directory to local residents, particularly older and vulnerable people, advising them to use members of the scheme when looking for a local trades person to work in the home or garden. The directory lists a range of traders, such as electricians, decorators, joiners and gardeners, who have undergone an assessment process. Q. How do I access the directory? A. For an up to date list of members, please follow the above linkQ. As a business how can I apply to be listed? A. If you are in trade we would your application to be listed - be it as a sole trader or a company - please contact us on 01472 324770 to find out moreQ. Is there an Assessment Procedure? A. Applicants must go through a vetting process. This includes: Police check for traders and employees, County Court Judgement Checks, Trading Standards Check for customer complaints, References, Proof of Appropriate Public Liability Insurance, Legislation Compliance Check of company stationery, Proof that business has been established for a minimum of 6 months, Everything you need to apply is available in the application pack.Q. Is there a Membership Fee? A. There is no membership fee (subject to review Summer 2009).Q. How many members are currently in the Home Services Directory? A. There are currently twenty (20) members.
