The way in which consumers across the South West of England are able to obtain advice concerning a wide range of issues changed on 15th September 2004. Trading Standards services have joined forces with the Department of Trade and Industry ( DTi ) to provide a new and expanded service to all consumers in the region called Consumer Direct.
A regional call centre has been set up which will be open from 8am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. This is a considerable expansion of hours for North Somerset residents as we were previously able to offer a mornings only service on weekdays. The call centre will be able to fully answer around 90% of calls. Any issue which requires action by North Somerset Trading Standards Service, such as more complex civil law enquiries, criminal complaints and urgent matters will be automatically referred to us for action.
