Revised TSQF 2011
The Trading Standards Qualifications Framework (TSQF) continues its ongoing programme of review and development.
After wide consultation, version 3 portfolio and related documentation are available for use and can be found in this section of the website.
A transition period until December 2012, is in place to allow you to complete any area of the framework using version 2 of the portfolio and these remain within the resource centre.
TSI will automatically recognise completed elements of the new structure and will make recommendation to the awarding body.
The revised portfolios and how they fit into the Awards structure is detailed below (PDF 49KB).
• Certificate of competence
Legal systems exam
Service delivery module (SDM) subject exam
Core skills portfolio
SDM portfolio (where applicable)
(The Legal Metrology subject is not available as a competency award.)
• Core Skills certificate in consumer affairs and trading standards
(CSCATS)
Legal Systems, Law of Contract and Consumer Protection Environment
exams and Core skills portfolio
• Diploma in consumer affairs and trading standards (DCATS)
FCATS plus
3 or 4 SDM subjects (3 if Legal Metrology is part of the Award) which
includes exam and portfolio (where applicable*)
• Higher Diploma in consumer affairs and trading standards (HDCATS)

Management of Quality and Management of Regulatory Services

* The SDMs that requiring a technical portfolio are Legal Metrology and
Animal Health and Welfare. All other moduels will require the
examination(s) only.
