What did the Council ever do for us?

Based on the 'What did the Romans ever do for us?' syndrome, Sheffield Council is running a 'What did the Council ever do for me?' campaign. The first subject of the campaign is Sheffield Trading Standards, featuring Naomi from Handsworth, pictured below. For more details of this campaign, others to follow and, for a chance to appear on the posters, please see:

What did the Council ever do for me?
Naomi from Handsworth

"All too often people simply aren't aware of the huge range of services that their Council provides. Most people are under the impression that councils do little more than empty bins and sweep the streets. One of our agreed key campaign themes in the Residents Communications Strategy aims to tackle the 'what did the Romans ever do for us' syndrome. In actual fact, the Council provide over 400 different services every day. In the first of a series of campaign advertisements, Naomi from Handsworth was featured to shout about the fact that the Council makes sure she doesn't get half measures at the petrol station, thanks to Trading Standards. You may have seen the posters around the city. More advertisements are planned to highlight other vital services that the Council provides including The Register Office, Music Service, and more."
