Age Restricted Products

Do you know which products can be legally sold to young people? A business supplying age restricted products to someone who is below the legal age is a criminal offence which can lead to a business, and a member of staff, being prosecuted.

Crucial Crew
Crucial Crew safety events provide staff and resources for interactive scenarios, for Shropshire Year 6 children (aged 10-11). Crucial Crew events in Shropshire are run by management committee partnerships involving local and national businesses, departments of the County and District Councils, as well as the Police and Fire Authorities, the NFU and others.

These partners, together with other agencies, provide staff and resources for one or more interactive scenarios during a week or fortnight's event, attended by local children - the actual CRUCIAL CREW!

Petroleum Storage and Licensing

Did you know that Trading Standards is responsible for the safe storage and licensing of sites storing petrol.
Every premise that stores over 15 litres of petrol, whether it is for sale or for their own private use, must be licensed and comply with the rules for the safe storage of petrol.

Explosives and Fireworks

Any business planning to store explosives such as fireworks, gunpowder, safety cartridges, or detonators (including air bag detonators), is required by law to have a current explosives registration or licence.

Electric Blanket Safety

Old or damaged blankets cause more than 5,000 fires a year. Research has shown that electric blankets ten years old (or older) still in use in homes in Britain are responsible for 99% of the fires caused by electric blankets. Each year 20 people are killed and 100 injured in such fires.
