We routinely test weighing and measuring equipment used
for trade to ensure accuracy and production line checks
of pre-packed products to ensure the declared quantity
is correct. We also check that the correct quantity
of popular products such as beer, spirits and solid
fuel has been supplied.
An accredited calibration service from a laboratory
facility located in Gateshead is provided in partnership
with the four other Tyne & Wear Metropolitan Authorities.
South Tyneside residents can also have their bathroom
scales or tyre pressure gauge tested free of charge. Businesses
can also request a check of weighing or measuring equipment.
