Enforcement Policy
South Tyneside Council Neighbourhood Services which
includes the Trading Standards Service has prepared
an enforcement policy which sets out what businesses
and others can expect from us when we are required to
enforce compliance with the wide range of legislation
for which we are responsible.
Our approach will be to carry out our enforcement actions
in a fair and consistent manner minimising as far as
possible any burden on businesses. However the main
function of enforcement is to protect the public and
the environment but also helping to promote a thriving
local and national economy.
South Tyneside Council is committed to these aims which
will contribute to maintaining a far and safe environment
for the community.
