Volunteers aged 14 -
15 years are needed to help Trading Standards Officers
enforce
the laws about under age sales of cigarettes and alcohol
to children. As a volunteer you will help undertake
test
purchases from shops with some of the exercises taking
place during evenings and weekends.
Involvement is covered by rigorous Home Office guidelines
to ensure their safety and well being of.
Volunteers must be representative of their age (there
should be no possibility that they could be thought
to be over 18 years old
for tobacco or alcohol). They should be freely willing
to participate, with the permission of their parents.
No fees are paid
but we will provide a certificate to include in the
child's school record of achievement.
Unfortunately, we only accept volunteers who reside
in the South Tyneside Area. If you reside outside the
borough and your child wishes to volunteer, please
contact your local Trading Standards Service.
If you have a child of this age who would like to
work alongside Trading Standards Officers to make
sure that
shops don't break the law, phone us 0191 424 7878, email
us or complete our online form below. We will then
contact you.
