New for South Tyneside Schools

South Tyneside Trading Standards can provide teachers with help, advice, and information to deliver consumer education into the classroom, and can help students studying consumer issues.

Please contact us to discuss how we can help to provide consumer education in your school.

Proof of Age Card Scheme
A joint initiative between South Tyneside Council Education and Trading Standards services, Nexus and South Tyneside Primary Care Trust.

The Proof of Age Scheme is voluntary, and available free to all young people between the ages of 11 and 18 in full time education, living in South Tyneside. It is a credit card style plastic card with name, date of birth, date when 18, and a photograph. You can still apply for a card if you are over 18, but there will be a small fee. There are all sorts of advantages in having a proof of age card, including a range of discounts and special offers.
