House To House Collection Application

Licence Summary

Persons wishing to undertake charitable house to house collections for money and/or goods must apply to the Council for a House to House Collection Permit. These collections generally take place from door to door or from one Public House to another.

A licence is not required from the Local Authority if the charity is operating under a Home Office Exemption Certificate.   Whilst these charities are not required to apply locally they are required to advise the Council in writing of the existence of their exemption together with the date and location of collection. Having received this information the Council can avoid double booking an area.

Consumer Complaint

We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you, preferably in the form of a letter (with proof of delivery).  If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, visit our Consumer pages or DirectGov for advice.  From outside of the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
