Call Barring

The public are increasingly becoming victim to scams and fraud, either by telephone or internet. The most direct solution to combat these scams is to implement call barring.

Call barring allows you to bar certain types of calls being made from your phone.

Listed below in alphabetical order are over 20 of the UK’s leading home telephone suppliers. Most of which offer, in some form or other, the facility to bar premium rate numbers, that is numbers which start with 09 and which are ones used by most scam operators(see below).*

Note: call bars may stop calls to other premium rate facilities such as live voting and competition lines e.g. Who Wants to be a Millionaire or help lines which charge to access them. Full details are available from your operating company/companies (if you use more than one provider you will need to contact them individually).
