Unsolicited Business Advertisements
Wirral Trading Standards receives a high level of complaints from businesses that have been contacted by telephone and
asked to place advertisements in publications such as diaries, wall planners, directories or similar, or on a website.
On most occasions it is claimed that the publication will support some charitable organisation or the Emergency Services and,
while this is sometimes true, in many instances this is not the case.
A number of complaints relate to demands for payment where the business did not agree to advertise or simply requested further information.

Underage Sales
Laws related to underage sales exist to safeguard the health of young people and reduce
community disorder. Trading Standards enforce Legislation which prohibits the sale of
certain products to persons under certain ages.
