One Stop Shops

The council is committed to improving accessibility to services for Wirral residents. That commitment can be seen through the development of the Councils One Stop Shops. These shops are designed to improve customer satisfaction through the delivery of a wide range of Council services all under one roof.

One Stop Shops are currently situated at:

• Conway Centre, Conway Street, Birkenhead
• Pennant House, Bebington
• Knutsford Rd, Moreton
• Wallasey Town Hall
• Heswall Library, Telegraph Road, Heswall

Opening hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday all sites except Heswall which is closed Wednesday.

One Stop Shops bring together all services offered by the Council, making it easier to do business with us.

We aim to deal with all your enquiries on the same visit- meaning no return trips or follow up calls to other Council buildings.

The services provided are:

• Advice on all Council services
• Full payment service, including Council rents and Council Tax.
• Queries about Housing benefit, council Tax benefit, Council Tax and Business Rates
• Queries on Environmental Protection issues, such as refuse collection, street cleaning, the ERIC service and consumer advice.
• Social Services queries- administration of blue badges, information on the charging policy, referrals to the Central Advice and Duty Team
• Full range of Housing services, including Council housing, private housing and adaptations.
• Administration of Education Welfare Benefits including free school meals and school uniform grants
• Free phone links to all Council Departments
• One Stop Shops work in partnership with other agencies and organisations. We do this by having surgeries from organisations such as Employment Services, Benefits Agency, Age Concern, Energy Efficiency, and the Police Authority etc
• We are also working in partnership with the Community Legal Service which allows for a more structured referral system between the Local Authority and the Voluntary sector, again with the view of making life easier for customers.

• Private interview rooms if needed
• Wheelchair access
• Toilets with disabled access
• Induction loops if you are hard of hearing
• Car parking spaces for blue badge holders
• Translation service
• A comfortable seated waiting area
• Signers service
• A cashiers service is provided at all One Stop Shops, currently five days a week 9am to 5pm.
