Underage Sales
Fireworks
- As from 1 January 2005, new regulations will be introduced which govern the sale and storage of fireworks
- Anybody who sells fireworks must have a licence. Merseyside Fire And Rescue Service issue the storage licence, and the licence to sell
- Merseyside Fire And Rescue Service can revoke a licence to store or sell fireworks if retailers do not comply with regulations

- Consumer Protection Act 1987
Age Restriction
A person must be 18 years or older to buy fireworks.
Offences
The above legislation makes it illegal:
- To sell fireworks to any person under the age of 18 whether they look older or not
- To sell fireworks to an adult intending to supply a person under 18 years old
Maximum Penalties
- £5,000 Fine
- Up to 6 months imprisonment
